Ice Mario's snowflakes when walking on water have a new design and 6 varients.
Daisy is actually a tomboy in the game, wearing jeans and an orange tshirt.
Missions which need Star Bit Lumas to be unlocked, the star bit lumas can be fed from the galaxy select menu.
Different select screens for each worlds have similar music to the Second Game's worlds though.
The GUI for selecting a galaxy is that of the first Super Mario Galaxy, except in Starship Mario's Expansion Pack levels where it is in the Super Mario Galaxy 2 design.
Comet Mission has to be played if a comet is there, but the comet mission can be played again if you ask the Purple Luma (Which appears at the start of every Comet Galaxy after the initial comet mission is completed). In some other galaxies, upon completing the first mission, the gateway to the second/third mission is opened.
In the first few galaxies of the game these are made obvious with signs.
The Mission Select Menu is removed: All missions start in the same area and split off to different paths.
Black Holes in sky-background galaxies appear blue/lilac and black holes have several varient designs.
There are minor changes within the game compared to the first two
X/Y - Launch Fireball/Frostball/Star bits.
The controls have been adjusted for the Switch's Joy-Cons: There is also a new bar called 'Durability' for Metal Mario. The fly (Now called Energy) and air bar can be toggled to be attached to the life meter in the settings. A 4th life is added because of the huge difficulty step up. The gameplay is almost the same as the first 2 mario galaxies. Prototypes of the life meter design, Red = Mario/Peach, Green = Daisy/Luigi
Wendy (Called Cutiepie in the game, Koopaling).
Dixie Kong (Only in the Expansion Pack).
Funky Kong (Only in the Expansion Pack).
Cranky Kong (Only in the Expansion Pack).
Diddy Kong (Only in the Expansion Pack).
Coloured Yoshis (Multiplayer Only, in Green, Blue, Red, Orange, Yellow, White, Black, Dark Blue, Pink at random).
Birdo (Unlocked after completing World 6).
7.7 Cluster 7 (The Dining Room, Galaxy S in JP).
Note: I haven't played Super Mario Sunshine yet, so that's why I didn't say if Super Mario Sunshines 100 coin missions are worse then Super Mario 64's. Overall, Super Mario Galaxy is a fantastic game with a beautiful soundtrack, great galaxies, and it has Luigi. Lastly, I completed this game as Mario a few months ago and I have yet to do it as Luigi. (There's a more then that because this game introduces Rosalina, but I'll save that when I get around to reviewing 3D Mario games). The story is Peach and her Castle gets Kidnapped by bowser and Mario must save her. As for the bosses, they're pretty easy especially Bowser. After you complete the game as Mario, you get to do it again with Luigi. Thankfully, they give you more then enough time to collect coins (Aka purple coins which is what their called for this and galaxy 2). By the way, some of the 100 coin missions have time limits. Some of them are in small galaxies and it doesn't take a while. They're not as bad as Super Mario 64, but the 100 coin missions are in large galaxies and it takes forever to grab them all. By the way, the 100 coin missions from Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine return and they still suck. Three of which aren't very useful besides The Red Star which you only use for one star out of 120. You also get some new power ups like the Ice Flower, the Bee Mushroom, The Spring Mushroom, and The Red Star. The level design is also better then Super Mario 64 even tho it's guilty of copying galaxy designs for later galaxies. For starters, the camera is a lot better then Super Mario 64 which means no more deaths due to the camera. As for the game itself, it's a hell of a lot better then Super Mario 64. Super Mario Galaxy's Soundtrack is incredible! Galaxy one goes for a orchestra and it freaking works! Unfortunately, the only way you can listen to it is this website and 3D all stars because of Nintendo being douchebags to their fans.
